A Setting Steeped in History and Elegance
Set in the heart of Brooklyn’s Prospect Park, Purslane at the Boathouse offers a wedding venue that feels like a hidden European gem tucked into New York City. Surrounded by water, trees, and classic architecture, it’s a space that invites both romance and refinement. The cream stone facade, striped awnings, and soft, glowy light make it a dream location for timeless wedding photography in NYC — especially in the fall. The atmosphere here feels untouched by time, yet full of modern possibilities.

Vibrant Color Meets Structured Design
The florals and tablescape at Purslane at the Boathouse stopped us in our tracks. Britt Jones brought a brilliant vision to life with the help of Nava Floral — opting for color blocking that transitioned down the table every few feet. Red melted into coral, which faded into apricot, golden yellow, and soft greens, with tailored black details adding contrast. It was sophisticated, painterly, and editorial in the best way. If you’re looking for wedding inspiration that’s fresh but elevated, this approach to design and color is one to bookmark.

A Bold and Fashion-Forward Bride
For this modern bride, style was at the forefront. She wore two looks throughout the day — first, a sculptural satin gown by Newhite with a crinkled corset bodice that played beautifully with the light and shadow. Later, she changed into a sleek, second-skin silhouette by Renhue, adding depth and sophistication to the editorial. But the statement that tied both looks together? A daring pair of cherry red Prada heels. That unexpected pop of color brought edge and fashion-forward energy to the day — a perfect choice for a bride who isn’t afraid to do something a little different.

Details with Personality and Play
From the custom invitation suite by Morgan Riley Design to the intricate origami escort card display, every design element at Purslane felt intentional. We leaned into the venue’s architectural details for portraits, using the arched doorways and soft afternoon light to ground the images in a sense of place. The bride’s red shoes became a visual thread throughout the editorial — making a quiet appearance in detail shots and then re-emerging in golden hour portraits on the stone steps. These are the moments that excite me most — when style and storytelling come together effortlessly.

Why This Shoot Reflects My Work
I approach every wedding — and editorial — as an opportunity to create something artful, emotional, and true to life. This day at Purslane at the Boathouse reminded me exactly why I do what I do. The balance of beauty and personality, the use of space and light, and the intentional pacing of the day — all of it aligned with how I photograph weddings across NYC and beyond. Whether I’m documenting a real wedding or an inspirational concept like this one, my goal is the same: to create images that feel as beautiful as they are meaningful.
